Not all laboratory tests are created equally. Most are designed for Disease identification and monitoring. Predictive Testing is a sub-set of lab testing that has predictive value and can assess your relative risk for developing a chronic disease.
A report in JAMA in 2014 noted that the usual lab tests ordered on asymptomatic patients is of very little value despite the fact that in America alone conventional medicine spends millions of dollars on this type of testing. Advanced Biomarkers are different in that respect in that they have predictive value and can determine risk of a disease before it sets in. Prevention is a much more cost effective way to treat a person. Both cost savings for the system and the patient. A little investment up front goes a long long way in the end.
If you are wanting to take a proactive approach to preventing illness and disease you need predictive testing. Conventional test will only alert you to your disease once you already have it. Knowing your relative risk (and your odds ratio) through predictive testing will allow you to take a different course in your life to lower your risk and likely prevent degenerative disease.
